Notes by Gerry Roach

  1. Our Arizona County Highpoint climbs
    Gerry Roach’s totals: 21 ascents; 15/15 overall
    Jennifer Roach’s totals: 17 ascents; 15/15 overall
Gerry and Jennifer’s combined total as of 3/21/14: 38 ascents
Gerry and Jennifer finished the Arizona County Highpoint list on 4/16/06 and
finished the Arizona County Prom Peak list on 11/1/13.

  2. There are 21 highpoints on this list, of which 15 are county highpoints.
With the exception that Gila County has two candidates for its highpoint,
this county highpoint list has one highpoint for each of Arizona’s 15 counties.
There are no twofer county highpoints in Arizona.

  3. In Greenlee County, the prominence of Guthrie Peak is only 3 feet less than the prominence of Maple Peak.
Since the prominence saddle of Maple Peak is interpolated, Guthrie Peak is a soft contender for the
most prominent peak in Greenlee County, and we list it.

  4. The more probable highpoint of Gila County is considered to be Promontory Butte not Myrtle Point.

  5. In this list, Rank by Elevation is in the first column, and Rank by Prominence is in the second column.

  6. All maps listed are USGS 7.5 minute quads unless otherwise indicated.
The summit quad listed shows the highpoint, and its contour interval is 40 feet unless otherwise indicated.

  7. The datum for the Latitude and Longitude is WGS84.
